Some of the best places in Cambodia

The best places to visit in Cambodia

Are you planning on going to Cambodia anytime soon! You definitely should! It’s one of Southeast Asia’s most beautiful and fascinating countries where you can find impressive temples, beaches, gorgeous landscapes and exciting cities. If you’re lucky and have one month to spend in the country, there’s lots of things to see here. Here are the best places to visit in Cambodia

Siem Reap

Let’s start with the most famous place in Cambodia. Perhaps you’re not particularly familiar with the name Siem Reap, but how about Angkor Wat? It’s one of the world’s most important landmarks and has been dubbed as one of the new Wonders of the World. The Angkor Wat consists of impressive religious monuments and is a must-see when you go to Cambodia. Although you could visit the main temples in one day, there’s also the option of a two or three day pass as well. This will allow you to visit all the temples if you’d like to, in a slower pace. One of the highlights is to see the sunrise in Angkor Wat, the main and biggest temple.

Battambang

The second most populous city in Cambodia that has just started to boom. These days, you can find plenty of backpackers who are looking to get off the beaten track. Battambang is only a 4 hour drive away from Siem Reap. The city is best known for its unique bamboo trains, the underground caves where you can see hundreds and hundreds of bats, and the Killing Cave, with a dark past. The city is full of charm and French colonial buildings as well so it’s equally a delight to just wander around and explore.

Koh Rong / Koh Rong Samloem

If you want pristine white sand beaches, skip Sihanoukville and go straight to the Koh Rong islands instead. Koh Rong is known as the more wild, party island, while Samloem is known as being the quiet one. Depending on which mood you’re in, you can pick and choose. Both of them have beautiful beaches and an atmosphere that’s unbeatable. You can’t help but fall in love with the islands in Cambodia. If you really want to find a quiet beach, go to Samloem and hike through the jungle for 40 minutes until you reach “Lazy Beach”. It’s one of the best!

Kampot

Known for its splendid nature, Kampot is a sure favorite amongst travelers and expats. It’s a sleepy little town packed with tons of things to do. Visit the Phnom Bokor National Park, the Old Catholic Church, Popokvil Waterfall (one of the main attractions) or go kitesurfing. Kampot is a place for nature lovers or for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the big cities in Cambodia.

Travelling the far east

TOKYO, THE ASIAN METROPOLIS

Welcome to Japan’s capital, Tokyo. If you are considering a trip to Eastern Asia, the place to go is Tokyo. Here is our comprehensive guide to travelling to Tokyo.

TRANSPORT

Tokyo has two world-class airports which transport around 100milion people per year. The easiest and best way to get to the city center is the monorail train. Public transport is pretty inexpensive, and very efficient, although since the city is extremely big, it can get confusing sometimes. Tokyo is the largest city in the world by population, so you might want to keep an eye out for crowds forming at stations, and avoid those. Because the transport can get confusing, you might want to get an app, such as Google Maps, in order to know where you are going. If you are travelling at night, you have to get a taxi. When hailing one, look for a red sign in the window, and a lit top bar, so you don’t get scammed. Also, Tokyo is very safe, despite its huge population.

FOOD

Tokyo might not sound like a big food capital, but it is. In fact, Tokyo has 221 Michelin starred restaurants, which is more than New York, Paris and London combined. The food is truly outstanding, from the world known Kobe beef, one of the best meats in the world, to ramen noodles you can get on every street corner. We recommend trying the Kobe beef for sure, as well as rice meals and as many different ramen variations as possible. Also, slurping is not considered rude in Japan, but impaling your food on chopsticks is. You better learn how to use chopsticks before visiting Tokyo!

PLACES AND THINGS TO DO

Akihabara:

The district known as the center for manga, anime, video games, and of course, arcades. It has huge game centers as well as maid cafes and other themed restaurants. The other name for this district is the Electric city, due to many electronic shops scattered all around the area. Now, let’s transition to a bit more ancient timeframe.

Meiji Shrine and surrounding forest:

A must visit place. The shrine itself is an extremely peaceful and beautiful place, where you should come to relax in your spare time. Also, it is fairly close to Shibuya, a perfect area for fashionistas, with high-end fashion stores all over. This is the place where the famous Tokyo scrambled pedestrian crossing is located as well.

If you are looking for nightlife and party, the district for you is Shinjuku. One of the busiest districts has the busiest train station in the world, to the west of the stations are Tokyo’s famous skyscrapers. A few interesting nightlife places include Kabukicho, with wild nightlife and Golden Gai which has over 200 small and unique bars and restaurants. Now, if you want to experience traditional Japan, you will visit Asakusa. A district where the common folk lived a few centuries ago, with its main focuses being the picturesque Sensoji Temple and Kaminarimon, both of these dating back to the 7th century.

No matter what your preference is, Tokyo has it all. Even much more than you could ever imagine!

Professional Demolition

Do you have any old buildings on your property that are dilapidated and unsafe?  If so they may need to be dealt with by a professional commercial demolition company, who knows how to handle these types of situations.

Las Vegas  Demolition is one such company that offers site clean up and garbage removal, to help with your renovation project.  In most cases your home demolition project should actually start on the outside and work their way inwards.  A professional company is going to ensure that all the overhead obstructions as well as the underground lines are marked and identified correctly to prevent a major headache.  Once that is taken care of then your demolition provider can tackle the job be it removal of a sidewalk or pad up to and including the whole home or structure.

You can then take comfort in knowing that the project will be completed with out any damage to your property or your neighbors, and with no injuries either.  Safety is of utmost concern.

A professional and courteous Demolition contractor can also help you, by educating you on the necessary steps that need to be taken during the entire process to ensure things go smooth.  Cleaning up as they go, can help ensure the job does not take longer than it needs to.  Using the proper bins and equipment for the materials recovered can help deal with it.  Concrete can be recycled, and reused as crush.  Metals sorted and reused.  Old brick is now a very popular building material that is in high demand.  Your Demolition contractor should when finished, have the property it clean and ready for the next phase of construction or safe to use.  Many reputable demolition companies offer extra services such as excavation and final grading.

During the initial consultation with the representative of the demolition company, you should make sure you outline the work you want done.  Discussing with them the budget as well as the likely time frames need to complete the task.  Get answers to all of your questions and a knowledgeable contractor should have no problems answering them.

Once you have received the estimate, go over it to make sure it is what you have discussed, such as initial costs, what services are provided at that price, possible financing if it is a big project.  Do not hesitate to call them up and ask further questions before signing the contract.

Thankfully professional Demolition contractors are honest and reliable in their work.  Bringing a high degree of expertise and knowledge, that is how they are able to do the job safely on time and on budget.

St. Petersburg, Russia

A Beginner’s guide to St. Petersburg

Eastern Europe is one of the most underrated travel destinations for tourists. It usually gets shadowed by its often-cooler climate.

Outsiders are starting to appreciate the beauty of famous Eastern European cities. Asia and South America are just too mainstream now that avid travelers are looking for something new.

A place that is starting to gain more attention is the city of St. Petersburg, Russia. It has drawn comparisons to Prague, Czech Republic because of its landscape.

The city gives a breather to those who want to visit other places in Russia other than mainstream Moscow. Here is your beginner’s guide to Russia’s port city.

1. Architecture

Eastern Europe is usually defined by rustic architectural designs. This means that Russia has its fair share of it as well.

St. Petersburg was actually the country’s capital during the Russian Empire. This explains why the city’s palaces and cathedrals boasts some of the world’s most astonishing architectures.

St. Petersburg’s castle-like infrastructures are similar Prague especially its churches and museums. To top it all off, the cheaper costs in St. Petersburg gives Prague a run for its money.

The Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood and the St. Isaac and Kazan Cathedrals are an example of the astonishing architectures of religion in the renaissance period.

2. Arts and History

St. Petersburg flourished during the Renaissance period as well since it used to be the Russian capital. This explains its neoclassical vibe as they were heavily influenced by the age of rebirth in Europe

There are a ton of museums to choose from but the most visited ones are the Russian Museum, Hermitage Museum, and the Kunstakamera Museum

The city has withstood the test of time having survived the Imperial, the Soviet, and the Revolution era, as well as World War II. A history which can be seen everywhere as the city is home to many museums.
3. Economy

The city has a number of waterways which serve as a gateway for trade and commerce in Russia.

The city is a commercial juggernaut, which is why St. Petersburg is expected to evolve a lot in the coming years.

4. People and Culture

The good thing about St. Petersburg’s culture is that a lot of the renaissance period can still be seen in its busy streets.

The locals are said to have gentler personas but are actually very patriotic when it comes to their own city. They are very proud to share with the world their own history and treasures.

The people of St. Petersburg prefer to keep culture and tradition intact. Moscow can have Russia’s economic decisions as long as they keep their own.

As for the performing arts, there are hundreds of theatres scattered around the city. It ranges from classical concerts toplays, as well as Russian Ballet performances.

Russia enjoys white night skies during the summer, which is why the city is no stranger to summer festivals.

The nightlife is active and would give any partying city a run for their money.

5. Food

Russian Cuisine has its fair share of interesting flavors as it has been influenced by its neighbors from East Europe and Asia. Its meat-heavy dishes are brought by extreme climate conditions on that part of the globe.

The Beef Stroganoff and the Shchi are one of the popular traditional Russian Cuisines. The recipe and presentation may vary per city which it’s still worth trying the St. Petersburg version.
